Charlotte Link - Im Tal des Fuchses (2020)

Desperate for money, Ryan Lee kidnaps Vanessa Willard in order to extort money from her husband, Matthew Willard. He locks the kidnapped woman in a box. Unexpectedly, the kidnapper is arrested the very next day after getting into a fight and is sentenced to three years in prison, leaving him unable to look after Vanessa. Afraid of being sentenced again, he conceals the kidnapping in court. After three years, he is released from prison, returns to the box in a cave, and finds a skeletonized body inside. Vanessa’s husband, Matthew Willard, continues searching for his wife, whose body is later found in Fox Valley. The situation takes a new turn when another woman, Alexia Reece, disappears from the same parking lot. Alexia Reece was a good friend of Vanessa Willard, so suspicion initially falls on the original kidnapper, who is now also being sought by the police. But Jenna Robinson, who had meanwhile become friends with Matthew Willard, discovers that Ken Reece murdered his wife because she was having an affair with Matthew Willard, and is trying to stage another kidnapping to divert suspicion from himself. Matthew Willard manages to rescue Jenna Robinson just in time after Ken Reece has locked her in a box and set it adrift at sea. Ryan Lee is apprehended by the police. Ken Reece kills himself.
