Full plot (contains spoilers)
Denis Patar, a melancholic widower and father of two girls (13-year-old Janine and 9-year-old Mercredi), struggles as best he can to juggle his two jobs—by day at a garden center, by night at a sex shop—at the risk of never being there when his daughters need him. After forgetting his younger daughter Mercredi at school one time too many, he is visited by a social worker, Séverine Grellot, who is determined to make him follow her parenting methods through a “parental responsibility course.” The difficulties faced by the elder daughter, Janine, a teenager courageously dealing with Tourette syndrome, seem to lead the family toward being placed in care by child welfare services, but in fact bring about a happy ending.
