The story
Randy and his partner Mike are paramedics who feel overworked and overlooked by the healthcare system. Seeking a change, Randy applies for a job at an insurance company but believes he was rejected. When he begins a grueling 24-hour shift, he is joined by a student ride-along, Jessica, who is initially critical of his methods. During the shift, Randy learns he actually landed the insurance job, but his supervisor insists he finish his current rotation. The night becomes a series of intense, high-stakes medical emergencies that test the resolve of the team and the patience of the skeptical student.

Randy and his partner Mike are paramedics who feel undervalued by the medical community. Randy, seeking an escape from his burnout, applies for a corporate role. While starting a 24-hour shift with a critical student, Jessica, he receives news that he won the insurance job but must finish his current shift. The night is filled with harrowing cases, including a man with a stick in his eye, a tragic loss of a child, and a confrontation with a mentally disturbed individual. As the night progresses, Jessica begins to respect Randy's experience. Near the end, they save a mother and baby in a crash. After a brief period of trying to adjust to the slow pace of office life at the insurance company, Randy realizes he belongs in the field and returns to his role as a paramedic.
