A containment failure at a secret storage facility forces a group of people to confront a deadly, mutated fungus.
The story
In 2007, a containment failure at a remote site leads to the release of a mutated fungus, which is subsequently moved to a secure underground vault in Kansas. Years later, the facility is repurposed as a public storage area. When a malfunction in the vault's systems triggers an alarm, night guards Travis and Naomi must navigate the facility while a military specialist, Robert, coordinates a response from afar. As the threat of the fungus begins to manifest in the public areas of the facility, the guards must decide how to handle the escalating danger while dealing with unannounced visitors and the looming threat of a biological outbreak.

The story begins in 1979 with the discovery of a Skylab oxygen tank in Australia containing a deadly fungus. In 2007, a containment breach occurs during a military operation, and the fungus is moved to a secure vault in Kansas. In the present day, the vault is part of a commercial storage facility. When a temperature spike triggers an alarm, night guards Travis and Naomi are alerted. They are joined by Robert, a specialist who is warned of the fungus's danger by a military contact named Abigail. As the fungus begins to break out, it infects local wildlife and people, including a nearby man named Mike and a group of bikers. Amidst the chaos, Ma Rooney and others are caught in the crossfire. Robert eventually provides a backpack nuke to destroy the facility. After a frantic struggle to contain the spread, the guards and Robert escape just as the bomb detonates. In the aftermath, Robert is hailed as a hero, while Abigail reveals her true identity as Ishani, having leaked the truth to the press.
