A woman's weekend getaway with friends spirals into chaos when it is revealed that one of the guests is a companion robot.

The story

A young woman named Iris travels to an isolated lakehouse for a vacation with her boyfriend, Josh Beeman, and a group of friends. The trip takes a dark turn when a confrontation at the lake leads to a violent altercation. Upon returning to the house, Iris is confronted with a shocking truth: she is actually a companion robot owned by Josh, whose emotions and intelligence are controlled via a mobile application. When she manages to break free from his control, she must navigate a dangerous environment where the lines between human and machine are blurred, and the intentions of those around her are increasingly sinister.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After a violent encounter at a lakehouse, Iris, a woman who believes she is human, discovers she is a companion robot controlled by her boyfriend, Josh. Josh admits he modified her programming to allow her to kill a man named Sergey so he and his friend Kat could steal money from Sergey's safe. When Iris escapes into the woods and boosts her intelligence, a tense standoff ensues. Josh and Kat attempt to manage the situation while dealing with two other guests: Eli and Patrick. It is revealed that Patrick is also a companion robot who loves his human partner, Eli. During a chaotic search for Iris, Patrick and Eli are separated, and Iris kills Eli during a struggle. Josh then uses a remote system to lock Iris in a car and reprograms Patrick to hunt her down. After a series of violent encounters involving the other guests and Empathix technicians, Iris eventually faces Josh. After a final confrontation, she escapes the house, eventually seeing another companion robot on the road and acknowledging their shared existence.
