In a tightly controlled near-future society, a scientist investigates her brother’s murder conviction and begins to challenge the system.
The story
In the near future, the Method governs society, placing health, security, transparency, and order above individual freedom. Scientist Mia Holl’s life is upended when her brother Moritz is convicted of murder. Despite what the article describes as overwhelming evidence against him, Mia believes he is innocent and sets out to uncover the truth. Her investigation leads her to question the system itself and draws the regime’s attention. As she searches for answers, Mia is uncertain whether she can trust those around her, including her colleague Christiane Bülow, her brother’s lawyer Lutz Rosentreter, and journalist Heinrich Kramer.
