A group of people discover a mobile app that correctly predicts the exact time of their deaths.

The story

At a party, teenager Courtney downloads an app called Countdown that predicts how long a user has left to live, only to discover she has three hours remaining. After she avoids a car accident with her boyfriend, she is killed by an unseen entity as her timer reaches zero. Quinn Harris, a nurse, later downloads the app and discovers she has only two days to live. After her boss sexually harasses her and she is suspended, Quinn meets Matt, who also has a countdown. They discover that the app is linked to a demon and that the user agreement is broken if they try to change their fate.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

After Courtney is killed by a demonic entity for breaking the 'user agreement' of the Countdown app, Quinn Harris downloads the app and learns she has two days to live. She meets Matt Monroe, who has 18 hours left. They discover the app is linked to a demon named Ozhin, originally summoned by a Roma woman. A tech worker named Derek hacks the code and identifies Quinn's sister, Jordan, was also meant to die. Derek adds decades to their lives, but the entity takes the form of Matt and attacks Quinn, resetting their timers to the original lifespans. Jordan is terrorized by a demonic form of their deceased mother. Quinn and Matt consult Father John, who theorizes the curse can be broken if someone dies before their countdown ends or lives beyond it. They prepare a warding circle, but the demon lures them out, killing Matt and wounding Jordan. Quinn realizes she can kill her boss, Dr. Sullivan, to break the curse. As Ozhin prepares to kill Jordan, Quinn overdoses on drugs before her timer ends, proving the app wrong. Jordan revives her sister with Naloxone, and the timers stop. Later, Quinn discovers a 'Countdown 2.0' app has downloaded itself onto her phone. In a mid-credits scene, Derek is attacked by Ozhin during a Tinder date.
