Full plot (contains spoilers)
In 1887, Edith Cushing is warned of 'Crimson Peak' by her mother's ghost. In 1901, she meets Thomas Sharpe and his sister Lucille. After her father is murdered, Edith marries Thomas and moves into Allerdale Hall, a mansion sinking into red clay. She is plagued by visions of red ghosts and discovers that Lucille has been poisoning her. Edith finds evidence that Thomas married three previous women and that the ghosts are his former wives. She discovers a 'marriage and murder' scheme where the siblings intended to use her fortune. After a confrontation, Edith learns the truth of the siblings' incestuous relationship and the murders they committed. She eventually stabs Lucille and flees, while Thomas is killed by his sister. She is rescued by Dr. Alan McMichael and later writes a novel titled Crimson Peak.
