The story
In the near future, people can connect their brains directly to computers and to one another through implanted ports. A group of neurohackers eagerly experiments with this technology, but Mona remains skeptical. Her perspective changes when her lover, Milo, falls into a neurotechnological coma connected to the technology. Hoping to save him, Mona has a port implanted herself. She is then drawn into a struggle involving control, outside influence, and the uncertain boundary between human beings and technology.

In the near future, human brains can be connected directly to computers and other brains through so-called ports. While a group of neurohackers enthusiastically experiments with the technology, Mona is skeptical of it. When her lover Milo falls into a neurotechnological coma as a result of the technology, she too has a port implanted in order to save him. In the process, she becomes embroiled in a conflict over control, outside influence, and the boundaries between humans and technology.
