Reformed fathers must navigate a holiday together while dealing with the unexpected arrival of their own parents.

The story

Brad Whitaker and Dusty Mayron, who are co-parenting Dylan and Megan, decide to host a joint Christmas celebration after Megan publicly expresses her preference for one. However, the holiday plans are disrupted when Dusty's tough father, Kurt, and Brad's cheerful father, Don, unexpectedly arrive. While the children warmly welcome Don, Kurt remains distant, having not seen them since they were toddlers. Envious of the affection shown to Don, Kurt rents a large cabin to house the entire group for the holiday week, putting Brad and Dusty's co-parenting dynamic to the test as Kurt begins to meddle in their lives.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Brad Whitaker and Dusty Mayron, who are co-parenting Dylan and Megan, decide to host a joint Christmas. The plan is complicated when Dusty's estranged father Kurt and Brad's cheerful father Don arrive. Kurt, wanting to bond with the children, rents a cabin and begins meddling, causing friction with Dusty who resents Kurt's past absences. During the stay, various conflicts arise: Sara is appalled by Karen's behavior, Dylan develops a crush on a girl named Casey, and Brad and Dusty have a strained interaction over 'the talk' with Dylan. A trip to an improv club leads to a shocking revelation that Don is divorced. Tensions peak during a live nativity and a subsequent blizzard forces the family into a cinema. There, each man confronts his father about secrets and attitudes, leading to a reconciliation. On Christmas Day, the family sings together and reconciles with Roger. At the airport, Kurt reveals he switched tickets with Don to spend New Year's in Las Vegas. Finally, Brad discovers his new stepfather is Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, leading to a final emotional outburst.
