Full plot (contains spoilers)

The personal and professional life of Romain Welter, who holds a senior position at the Banque Luxembourgeoise des Actionnaires, is planned down to the last detail. But beneath the façade, turmoil is brewing. His wife Françoise, a gifted sculptor, has to use a wheelchair after a motorcycle accident with her lover. Their marriage exists only on paper: Françoise is thinking about divorce, Romain is bored with the relationship, and the few conversations they have are full of accusations and bitterness. When Romain falls in love with the young, seductive Lynn, a murderous plan takes shape in his mind. Together with his lover, he intends to get rid of Françoise and make the murder look like suicide. But on the day of the crime, everything goes differently: Françoise survives, Lynn vanishes without a trace—and suddenly another woman appears, claiming to be Lynn. Romain begins a psychological downward spiral. He becomes increasingly entangled in lies, loses control of his double life, and is haunted by guilt as well as a growing obsession with Lynn. At last, his desperate search ends in a Swiss sanatorium, where the boundaries between reality, deception, and madness finally blur completely.
