Das Ende der Wahrheit (2019)

Martin Behrens works as a Central Asia expert for Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service. He passes on information that leads to an American drone strike on a terrorist wanted in Zahiristan. A few days later, a brutal attack takes place at a Munich restaurant. Among the dead is Aurice Köhler, a freelance journalist with whom he had been having a secret romantic relationship. Martin’s superior, Joachim Rauhweiler, appoints Patrick Lemke to a newly created “crisis manager” position. Rauhweiler introduces Lemke to employees of the company Global Logistics and speaks highly of them. Although his boss has placed him on leave, Behrens conducts his own investigation and repeatedly comes across Global Logistics’ activities. Through a plane spotter, he discovers that the terrorists behind the attack were flown in and out on one of the company’s planes. Martin also discovers that Rauhweiler is working to end an embargo on arms sales to Zahiristan. This would be in Global Logistics’ interests. Lemke gets on Rauhweiler’s trail after he lets something slip. Martin also learns from Lemke that Rauhweiler will soon be given a seat on Global Logistics’ board. After Behrens and Lemke confront the head of the agency, Dr. Grünhagen, with their findings, Grünhagen asks Behrens to discuss further details with him on an official trip to Zahiristan. The trip continues in an armed convoy of off-road vehicles. However, the convoy is ambushed, and Grünhagen’s vehicle explodes. In the ensuing shootout, everyone involved is killed except Behrens. Back in Germany, Aline Schilling, not Rauhweiler, is appointed as Grünhagen’s successor. By this time, Behrens has found a storage drive containing a video that shows Rauhweiler in a confidential conversation with Global Logistics employees. Rauhweiler is arrested. The storage drive, which belonged to Aurice Köhler, also contains incriminating material about Schilling. Martin tells her he will use it against her only if she becomes corrupt again.
