The story
Professor Bexter and his assistant, Dr. Cecil Wilkens, develop a formula for generating energy, whose microfilm attracts two rival seekers: Reginald Sheridan, director of the United Trans Oil Company, and Mary Lou, who runs an international spy ring from the London nightclub “Chinese Carnation.” Bexter has managed to send the film to his niece Susan in time. After Bexter is murdered, private detective Donald Ramsey protects Susan and the microfilm while conducting his own investigation, hoping to avenge a friend’s murder; his inquiries put him in mortal danger. Scotland Yard and the Secret Service investigate separately.

Professor Bexter and his assistant, Dr. Cecil Wilkens, have developed a sensational formula for generating energy. Reginald Sheridan, director of the United Trans Oil Company, is after the microfilm containing the formula, as is Mary Lou, who runs an international spy ring from the London nightclub “Chinese Carnation.” Shortly afterward, Bexter is murdered. The scientist had managed to send the film to his niece Susan in time. The private detective Donald Ramsey, who is protecting Susan and the film and wants to avenge a friend’s murder, conducts his own investigations and finds himself in mortal danger. Scotland Yard and the Secret Service are also investigating independently. Ramsey and agent Legget are kidnapped by the spies. In the end, the two manage to free themselves. The spies and Reginald Sheridan are arrested, while Mary Lou and Cecil Wilkens, who is exposed as the professor’s murderer, die during a chase. The formula is saved.
