The story
After her father’s sudden death, Maria Brinkenhof becomes mistress of a grand estate in the Sauerland. A fire destroys the family estate, but Maria rebuilds it through hard work, discipline, and firm principles, restoring its financial success. Her position is challenged when Jasper, her father’s criminal brother, returns to Germany from the United States and seeks to become master of Brinkenhof. Maria rallies her friends, employees, and villagers from the surrounding area to help prevent Jasper from taking possession of the estate.

After her father’s sudden death, Maria Brinkenhof becomes mistress of a grand estate in the Sauerland. When a fire destroys the family estate, Maria rebuilds it and, through hard work, great discipline, and firm principles, leads it to renewed financial success. But one day Jasper, her father’s criminal brother, returns to Germany from the United States and wants to become master of Brinkenhof himself. Maria rallies her friends, employees, and the villagers from the surrounding area, who also want to prevent the treacherous Jasper from taking possession of the estate. But, as the third act reveals, there is a dark secret in her past. Jaspar knows about it and wants to use this knowledge as leverage to drive Maria off the estate.
