Full plot (contains spoilers)
Henriette Höffner, a childcare worker from Munich, is assigned to a farm in South Africa to look after 16-year-old Anton and his younger brother Linus. The boys, who are going through puberty, were originally supposed to be cared for while their parents were away by their grandfather, Konrad Eckstein, a game warden, but he has no desire or interest in his two grandsons. When he suffers a bout of lumbago, however, the childcare worker takes over feeding the animals with the boys. The older boy is also introduced to the work of a game warden. Because of Eckstein’s advanced age, the park administration asks him to appoint a successor, but Eckstein has had a difficult relationship with his daughter for years, since his wife died giving birth to her. After they talk things through, the two reconcile.
