In postwar Germany, the rebellious Rosemarie Nitribitt, who comes from a poor background, wants to make a lot of money in Frankfurt am Main. Because of her attractiveness, she quickly becomes the mistress of wealthy businessman Konrad Hartog, who, however, sees her only as an affair. At a meeting of influential industrialists, she meets Fribert, a French industrial spy who supports her financially but demands, in return, recordings of her encounters with her suitors from the industrialists’ circle. The agent intends to use them to blackmail Hartog and his business partners. Nitribitt offers Hartog the tapes on the condition that he marry her, but he refuses.
