Full plot (contains spoilers)

The two art thieves, Vincent and Nils, have stolen Kazimir Malevich’s painting The Black Square, but they miss their contact shortly before boarding a cruise ship and steal two strangers’ boarding passes so they can come aboard unnoticed. Only once on the ship do they realize they have taken on the identities of Elvis and David Bowie impersonators hired for the entertainment program. While Vincent’s Bowie act is pathetic, the initially insecure Nils is surprisingly well received as Elvis. During their performance, however, the painting is stolen from the cabin by Mia, the pianist, who hopes to profit from it. Vincent, a painter himself, makes a copy, using improvised paint that also contains urine. The conspicuously foul-smelling copy is then stolen by Helen, the crew manager. He eventually hands over a second copy and receives a large sum of cash. Out of respect for the artwork, the two now try to track down the original as well. The chase ends in an absurd showdown on the variety-show stage in front of an audience that thinks it is part of the show. As Vincent escapes from the ship in a lifeboat with the original and a copy, Nils stays aboard with the pianist Mia, now his new love interest. Out on the water, Vincent encounters Martha, an art connoisseur who was thrown overboard after the showdown, and they come to an agreement. In the end, the famous painting is back in its place in the museum, although the curators notice an unpleasant smell of urine.
