Full plot (contains spoilers)

A young geologist is sitting with his sweetheart at the so-called Devil’s Hole, a rock formation that extends deep into the mountain. Through a careless mishap, his fiancée loses her heart-shaped gold necklace, which falls into the hole. The next day, the geologist decides to descend into the Devil’s Hole to look for the pastor’s daughter’s necklace. But he finds something quite different: the geologist discovers an ore vein that would be very profitable to exploit. Now, however, he becomes embroiled in dark dealings, because the owner of the Devil’s Hole turns out to be a crook who is trying to cheat everyone. As the geologist focuses entirely on his new work, exploiting the ore vein, he loses sight of his fiancée more and more. This causes a rift between them. Meanwhile, the geologist rises to become technical director, while the mine director tries to carry out his schemes. A mine fire breaks out, in which several people lose their lives and the geologist is injured. This brings him and his bride back together. In the meantime, however, the mine owner steals the company shares and tries to escape by cable car. When it crashes, the crook is killed.
