The story

A famous singer fleeing art thieves upends the bachelor household of two committed woman-haters.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Toldini is a famous singer and also the daughter of a renowned painter. He once created a masterpiece entitled “The Woman on the Panther,” which has now been swiped from her by crooks. When it is put up for sale, however, the painting turns out to be a copy. Only later does the truth come to light: Toldini’s housekeeper had already had sticky fingers and stolen the picture long ago! The crooks, however, believe that the singer must still have the original and set out after her. While fleeing, Toldini takes refuge in the home of two confirmed woman-haters—one a writer, the other also a painter. At first, they offer her shelter rather reluctantly. Miss Toldini soon turns the entire bachelor household upside down with her lively manner, turning the two woman-haters into a pair of cockerels vying for her attention. Their devotion goes so far that both men try to spare Mrs. Toldini all the trouble connected with the stolen painting. Then it also turns out that Toldini’s thieving housekeeper is none other than the writer’s ex-wife, and the chaos intensifies. In the end, the stolen “Woman on the Panther” returns home to its owner, who has also found happiness in love.
