Der kommer en dag (2016)

The year is 1967. A new youth culture is emerging. The space race is at its height, and the dream of liberation is gaining ground everywhere. In Nørrebro, the inseparable brothers Elmer, 10, and Erik, 13, are taken from their sick mother and placed in Gudbjerg children’s home, where time stands still. The superintendent has his own philosophies and rules. Here, unruly boys must be turned into obedient citizens at any cost. From the very first day, the brothers understand that they have lost their freedom, and a daily struggle for survival begins. The boys try to keep a low profile, but Elmer’s vivid astronaut dreams and clubfoot constantly get him into trouble. As time passes and their strength threatens to run out, the brothers realize they are completely on their own, and a nascent rebellion slowly takes shape. Armed with Elmer’s imagination and Erik’s courage, they embark on an unequal struggle to escape Gudbjerg and stand up to the superintendent and his life-threatening tyranny.
