A country con man posing as a village doctor finds his scam complicated by three women who become his supposed daughters and medical assistants.

The story

Josef Brezenbichler roams the countryside selling supposed miracle medicine at high prices, until an arrest forces him to seek a new opportunity. In the village of Moosbach, he is mistaken for the doctor expected to arrive and decides to play along, partly because he is attracted to the local landlady. Three women arrive after their car is stolen, and Josef welcomes them while pretending to treat them. They quickly recognize that he is no real doctor, but agree not to expose him in exchange for a place to stay. To avoid scandal in the staunchly Catholic community, they present themselves as Josef’s daughters and take on the role of his medical assistants.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Josef Brezenbichler roams the countryside as a con man, selling medicine to gullible simpletons and promising them supposed miraculous cures if they use it. Brezenbichler Sepp charges them a princely sum for this medicine. When Josef is arrested during one of his scams, he has to find a new field of operations for his swindles. He ends up in a sleepy little place called Moosbach, where the new local doctor is expected to arrive soon. It is an ideal situation for the gruff Bavarian, who has no objection at all to being taken for the new doctor—especially since he has taken a liking to the pretty landlady and hopes for a romantic adventure. After Josef takes up his post, one misunderstanding quickly follows another. Now Josef can begin playing doctor for real. At the same time, three very pretty, exceptionally well-built blondes arrive in the area, supposedly just passing through. They have been swimming naked in a nearby mountain lake. When some village idiots steal their car, they are forced to walk without their clothes to the nearest town, Moosbach, where “Doctor” Brezenbichler is happy to receive them and “treat” them first. The blondes, however, are not as stupid as they initially seem. They soon realize that Josef has no idea how to provide medical treatment. Since they like the old scruff and are allowed to stay with him for free, they are also willing not to expose him. So that nobody in the staunchly Catholic community can loudly cry “Immorality!”, the three beauties promptly pass themselves off as Brezenbichler’s daughters, put on white coats, and from then on play his “medical assistants.” The confusion is complete when the real new village doctor arrives, young and quite handsome. Now it’s a case of first come, first served for the girls…
