Der Meineidbauer (2012)

Farmer Karl Bruckner and Anna Sobek are about to get married when Karl is killed in a car accident. Anna is heartbroken and left with nothing. Meanwhile, his stepbrother Franz takes the initiative to get his hands on the farm: he makes Karl’s will disappear and secures the property in court by committing perjury. Anna is left with nothing. She and her young daughter are driven away and initially have nowhere to live, until Anna finds work at a nursery. Twelve years later, she returns to the village, wanting to find out the truth. Her daughter Marie and Franz’s son Toni also meet again after a long time apart and grow close. Through her good relationship with the village policeman, Anna learns that Franz’s farmhand Ignatz did not come into his wealth through an inheritance. A dispute over handing over the will leads to a confrontation between Ignatz and Franz, during which Ignatz collapses. Only once he is in hospital does he tell Anna the truth: he had used the story to extort money from Franz. In a fit of rage, Franz pulls out Ignatz’s tube during a secret visit, ultimately costing Ignatz his life. When fingerprints are found on the tube, Franz becomes a wanted suspect in the murder. High up on the mountain, he attempts to attack Anna, but stumbles to his death, while Anna is rescued.
