Der Pfau (2023)

Linda Bachmann is an investment banker who travels with her team—Bernhard, Andreas Voigt, David, and Jim—to the country estate of Lady and Lord McIntosh in Scotland for a weekend. They are planning to attend a team-building seminar there. The seminar leader originally scheduled for the event sends his apologies and appoints Rebecca as his substitute. According to Linda, the seminar is also meant to address a compliance procedure involving Dr. Schulz. After a peacock on the McIntoshes’ estate attacks anything blue, mistaking it for a male rival, Lady McIntosh orders the Lord to shoot it. Later, Linda discovers the dead bird and suspects that her dog, Anshu, killed it. She therefore tells her employee David to dispose of the peacock. He asks the cook, Helen, for help, and she guts the bird to prepare it as a meal. She finds a shotgun pellet in the dead bird and assumes it was shot. Rebecca instructs the group to build a hut in the woods. Andreas Voigt refuses to take part in the exercise. Later, in a phone call, Rebecca says she was impressed by Voigt’s backbone. That evening, she tries to get closer to Voigt, a married family man, but does not succeed. After an unexpected onset of winter, the group is snowed in and cannot leave the estate. Soon afterward, Lady Fiona McIntosh notices that her goose, Gladstone, is missing. Fiona suspects Anshu of killing the goose and Helen of preparing it for dinner. At the group dinner, Helen serves poultry curry. Voigt finds a shotgun pellet in the food and suspects the animal was shot rather than killed by Anshu. The other seminar participants do not believe David when he admits that he and Helen gutted the peacock for dinner. Once the road is passable again, the group leaves. They then learn that Rebecca is Dr. Schulz. The goose, Gladstone, also reappears alive.
