Full plot (contains spoilers)
Engineer Max Allan is planning something fantastic: he wants nothing less than to dig a tunnel between Europe and America, finally connecting the two continents by land. He has also found a powerful financier: the American billionaire Lloyd. Allan needs enormous sums of money to carry out this major project, which is estimated to take a decade and a half to build. But he has powerful opponents who are determined to prevent his futuristic dream, above all Woolf, the president of the financial syndicate. Woolf incites the workers laboring in the tunnel system to go on strike and eventually revolt. When Allan can persuade his men to resume work with the gift of the gab, his fiercest adversary resorts to the ultimate measure: he has acts of sabotage carried out, hoping these attacks will have an effect on Allan and the workers. But he is gravely mistaken.
