Der Unfisch (1997)

Showman Roberto travels through the Austrian mountains with a stuffed whale, the star attraction at every fairground. When he arrives in a remote Tyrolean village, Roberto dies, leaving the villagers his oversized curiosity, the Unfisch of the title. One day, Sophie Moor, the deceased man’s dark-haired niece, turns up and claims that she is the whale’s heir. At the same time, a secret of great magic enters the villagers’ peaceful isolation. Marie has a great erotic secret: any man who makes love to her inside the whale, which is comfortably furnished, is granted one wish. For magical, amorous forces hold sway here, completely overturning the logic of everyday life. The village community soon smells a lucrative opportunity. This goes well for a while, but after a period of booming income from these sensational attractions—and the realization that each person can have their sexual wish fulfilled only once—selfishness, greed, and excess threaten to destroy the local community. The mayor intervenes and wants to put an end to the unrestrained goings-on.
