Two cheeky Schwabing private detectives secretly keep both sides informed on a case to double their earnings.

The story

Two cheeky fellows from Schwabing work as private detectives, using a dishonest method: on each assignment, they keep both sides informed so they can earn twice as much. They complete their first case together, successfully protecting a girl from an overly persistent lover. Their next assignment is to watch an industrialist’s girlfriend and young son. This time, the detectives work separately—and already against each other.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

At the center of the story are two decidedly cheeky Schwabing fellows who work as “private detectives” and have the odd habit, when taking on a case, of keeping both sides informed so they can dishonestly earn twice as much. They complete their first case together, however, successfully protecting a girl from her overly persistent lover. But when they are tasked with keeping an eye on an industrialist’s girlfriend and young son, they not only work separately but are already working against each other, unaware that the industrialist himself is setting them up. They therefore have to realize that, knowing about their unusual professional ethics, someone has tricked them both. It was all a rigged game. But in the end, its instigator is the one who loses: one of the hired pawns turns the staged assassination attempt into a real murder by poison!
