The story

Across thirteen contributions, directors present their own cinematic views of Germany in 2009. The pieces range from a dawn short and street interviews about what people associate with Germany to accounts centered on a man held at Guantanamo, a teenager interested in filmmaking, and three lives intersecting at a children’s soup kitchen. Other segments follow a freight hauler reacting to a newspaper’s removal of Fraktur headlines, a teacher testing new methods in a fourth-grade classroom, and a lecturer arrested on suspicion of terrorist involvement. The anthology also turns to global business travel, a Berlin bar, a clinic, and a lunar colony.
