Diario di un vizio (1993)

Benito, an erotomaniac who sells inferior detergents and dreams of becoming a philosophy professor, suffers from serious health problems and leads a lonely, insecure, nomadic life among squalid boarding houses and insignificant affairs. His main occupation is meticulously recording the passage of his ordinary existence in a diary filled with clippings and photographs. He notes down all kinds of details: thoughts, dreams, the number of cigarettes he smokes, minor health problems, meals eaten alone, and sexual observations about the many women he does not know and finds attractive. The only color in his life is his tempestuous relationship with his attractive girlfriend, Luigia, who one moment says she loves him and the next cheats on him with one of her many suitors. One day Benito disappears without a trace, leaving behind the sole proof that he existed: his personal diary.
