Die Büffel sind los! (2016)

Fleeing her exploitative employer, Sveta, a Romanian woman, ends up in the Swabian Jura. When she tries to avoid a buffalo standing in the middle of the road, her car gets stuck in a cornfield. She meets the brothers Max and Konrad Wolf and starts working on their farm. The brothers want to make a living with a herd of buffalo, but they still need pastureland that they could lease. Father and son Alois and Michael Bliesinger also want to lease it, as they need it to operate their biogas plant. Michael in particular wants to drive Max and his buffalo out of the area for good. Sveta takes a liking to Max, but is soon driven off the farm by Mrs. Wolf and starts working as a waitress at the Bliesinger family’s inn. There, she has to fend off the advances of Alois and Michael Bliesinger. Although Max seems to want nothing more to do with Sveta, her heart still belongs to him. This makes Michael Bliesinger jealous, and he hatches a scheme to destroy the buffalo herd and, with it, the Wolf family’s livelihood. Through her work at the village inn, however, Sveta learns of the Bliesingers’ plans and reveals them to Max and Konrad. A showdown ensues between the Bliesinger and Wolf families. In the end, Max and Konrad manage to save their buffalo and, with them, their livelihood, and Max and Sveta come together at the end of the film.
