Die drei !!! (2019)

The three friends Kim, Franzi, and Marie plan to spend the summer holidays at a theater workshop run by educator Robert Wilhelms. After three weeks, he intends to stage the play Peter Pan. The rehearsals and performance are to take place in an old theater that was partly destroyed by a fire 15 years ago. The proceeds from the performance are supposed to go toward rebuilding the theater. Strange events begin as early as the second day of rehearsal. The dressing room is ransacked, words are spray-painted on the walls, strange noises can be heard, and skulls are laid out with candles in a field at night. It seems a phantom is haunting the theater. But all the performers want to continue rehearsing anyway. The three !!! begin investigating and soon have half a dozen suspects. Marly, who has run away from home and is supposed to play Tiger Lily, turns up. Verena, who is jealous of Marie because she got the role of Tinker Bell, also comes under suspicion. But perhaps it is Jimmy's washed-up uncle after all, who spends his time drinking in a disreputable harbor pub. Or perhaps it is Jimmy himself, who has to do community service—and whom Franzi is beginning to fall in love with. After many complications and investigations that do not always lead in the right direction, the three detectives discover a secret underground cellar in the theater on the evening just before the performance, where the phantom seems to be living. In fact, the organizer of the performance is holding the real Robert Wilhelms captive there. The organizer himself is an unappreciated actor who has been living there in hiding since the fire and is now slowly going mad. During the performance, the three friends manage to expose everything in a grand finale, and Commissioner Peters is able to apprehend the culprit at the end.
