Die Holzbaronin (2013)

When Elly Brauer, née Seitz, is about to be appointed chairwoman of the board of the Seitz AG timber company in Gernsbach in 1953, Inspector Fröbe arrests her. Her son Hans had accused her of shooting her husband Alfred, who had supposedly died in a bombing raid during the Second World War. During questioning at the Karlsruhe police headquarters, Elly tells the story of her difficult, hard-won rise. It turns out that the violent Alfred, whom she had married for financial reasons, died during a scuffle with Josef Meder, Elly’s childhood sweetheart and Hans’s biological father.
