After six months of police training, Felix returns to his hometown and finds his loyalties tested when an old friend asks him to help with a drug-running scheme.
The story
After six months of police training, Felix is glad to transfer to a post in his hometown. He reconnects with Sören, an old friend who buys drugs across the Dutch border and sells them at a nightclub. Their friendship is complicated by Sören’s relationship with Simona, whom both men once loved, and by the changes Felix notices among Sören’s associates. Felix starts police duty at his new post and befriends his roommate, Mario, but he is unsure whether to finish his training. When Sören asks him to check whether police are watching the border during their drug runs, Felix agrees, though he fears being caught and losing his job.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Felix is happy that, after six months of police training, he can transfer to a position back in his hometown. There, he reunites with his old friend Sören, who works for a real estate agent and regularly crosses the border into the Netherlands to buy drugs and sell them at his regular nightclub. When Felix arrives at Sören’s apartment, he also sees his friends Schmidt and Hausschild again. But a lot has changed. Sören is now dating Simona, even though years ago, when they were both in love with her, the two men promised never to date her. Sören also has some guests Felix doesn’t know, who make a strange impression on him, such as Stone and Schnubbi. Sören then shows Felix an apartment he wants to move into with his friend. He plans to finance the €15,000 down payment with his drug business. Shortly afterward, Felix begins his police duty at his new post. There, he meets his new roommate, Mario, and the two become friends. At first, Felix is unsure whether he really wants to complete his police training, but over the course of the film he grows more and more open to the idea. He is troubled by his conscience when Sören asks him to take the place of his former accomplice and regularly cross the border with him, so Felix can check whether the police are monitoring it. Felix agrees, but lives in constant fear of getting caught and losing his job. At the annual high-school reunion, Simona and Sören get into an argument. Felix then accompanies Simona home. She tells him that she knew about the pact between him and Sören, and that she herself used to have feelings for Felix. The two begin kissing. While Felix is on patrol with a colleague, Schmidt is killed in a car accident. Their friends are shocked. Felix goes to Simona’s workplace and asks her to quit her training with him and start a new life somewhere else. Simona refuses. Through his colleague Mario, Felix accidentally learns that the police plan to catch Sören at the border. He warns his friend, but as the “price” for doing so, he sinks a packet of drugs in a gravel pit. Sören is furious at first, but Felix then shows him the roadside cross at the site of Schmidt’s accident to make him think. He also explains that he no longer wants to move into an apartment with Sören, but wants to quit the police and make a fresh start somewhere else. The film ends with Simona, Sören, and Hausschild saying goodbye to Felix at the train station.
