Jackson moves to a Montana home inherited from an uncle who died by suicide. He moves there with his pregnant girlfriend, Grace. After the birth of their son, their relationship deteriorates due to Jackson's long work hours and Grace's growing sense of isolation. Tensions peak when Grace shoots a dog they own after a car accident. Her behavior becomes increasingly erratic, involving weapons and an affair with a stranger. Despite their constant fighting, Jackson proposes to her. Following a tumultuous wedding, Grace is institutionalized for her mental health. After being released and finding the house renovated, she is eventually taken on a drive by Jackson.
