Full plot (contains spoilers)
Kaspar Brandner is a man of substance who would never dream of having to die one day. Although he has already reached the advanced age of 70, he feels extremely full of life. To his surprise, however, Death (Boandlkramer) comes to him on the evening of his 70th birthday to “collect” him. After a shot of raspberry schnapps, Kaspar Brandner manages to persuade Death to let him live for just one more year. Thereafter, thanks to Kaspar Brandner’s skillful negotiating, Death is persuaded time and again to let him live for another year. In this way, he succeeds in postponing his death by a total of 20 years. But when Brandner Kaspar’s deal with Boandlkramer comes to light, Death is called to account by Peter, the higher authority. During the questioning, Death admits that he went along with Kaspar Brandner’s little game. But now that’s enough: Boandlkramer is given one day to put things right.
