After a humiliating defeat breaks up their soccer team, a devoted admirer tries to reunite the players for a high-stakes showdown against their rivals.
The story
After the Wild Guys lose 1–25 to the German national team, Leon lets the team down and the players scatter. Nerv, an admirer who has not yet joined them, refuses to accept the breakup and sets out to bring the team together again. Their rivals, the Beastly Beasts, claim the title of the world’s wildest soccer team. Their leader is Fabi, a former Wild Guy and Leon’s former best friend, who believes Leon treated him unfairly. As Nerv recruits the players, the team prepares to travel by bicycle to the rivals’ distant arena, though old resentments and the dangers of the journey threaten to pull them apart.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After the 1–25 defeat against the German national team, Leon let his team down. As a result, the Wild Guys disband, and everyone scatters in different directions. Only Nerv, who is not yet one of the Wild Guys but greatly admires them, cannot accept this and goes to the Devil’s Cauldron, the Wild Guys’ arena. But he doesn’t have to wait long. The “Beastly Beasts,” who are made up entirely of girls except for their leader, claim the title of “Wildest Soccer Team in the World.” Their leader is Fabi, a former Wild Guy and Leon’s former best friend. However, Fabi feels that Leon treated him unfairly. Despite Leon trying to talk him out of it, Nerv tries to get the team back together, and succeeds—with the exception of Marlon and Markus. Eventually, Nerv manages to win Juli over with his side-fall volley hammer booster, and Juli persuades Vanessa. Thanks to Vanessa, they also get Leon back. He has been playing in a country band, portrayed by the Bananafishbones, who were responsible for the soundtrack in all the films. They go to Hadschi ben Hadschi’s secret inventor’s workshop. There, they repair their bikes and receive their equipment and new jerseys from Hadschi ben Hadschi. They have four days to make their way by bike to the Beastly Beasts’ arena, the Snake Pit, 183 km away. The journey there is not easy, though, and they have to overcome several dangers before reaching their destination. The Wild Guys still haven’t fully reconciled. Vanessa has not yet forgiven Leon for letting the team down back then, especially her. But Leon proves that he is a Wild Guy again: he repairs the other guys’ bikes, comes up with the idea of driving away the rain, and, with a little help, sends away some unwanted parents. Later, they all jump into a small lake and have fun. Vanessa thanks Leon for the game against Fat Michi, the pink pumps, the letter he wrote her, making the journey, and the kiss; then she and Leon kiss. Among others, Maxi’s father and Nerv’s mother try to bring the children back home. The Beastly Beasts also stop at nothing and kidnap Leon, taking him to their hideout. There, he discovers that all the girls are better than he is at soccer squash. At first, his friends think he has run off again, like he did after the soccer debacle against the German team. Luckily, they eventually realize that the Beastly Beasts are behind it and try to rescue Leon. In the process, they fall into a trap set by their rivals. At last, help arrives in the form of two other Wild Guys—Markus and Marlon, who have returned after all—with the help of Hadschi ben Hadschi’s weapons. To defend their title of “Wildest Soccer Team in the World,” the soccer match is held in the Snake Pit arena. The Beastly Beasts have a great home advantage there, since the stadium contains several hidden tricks. The guys are also not in top form. Only Markus, the goalkeeper, manages to hold off their shots for a long time, but just before halftime, it happens. Leon tries to clear the ball, but instead puts it into his own goal. Since Leon had been prophesied to score the decisive goal, he is now completely dejected and would really like to give up. Only the fact that his friends believe in him gives him hope. Even so, he substitutes himself for Nerv. The Beastly Beasts dominate the second half too. But Markus saves every ball until shortly before the end. As he rushes out, he is beaten, and the ball rolls toward the goal, but at the last moment Juli manages to kick it away. The ball bounces to Markus, who charges forward on his own and, two seconds before the end, sends it straight to Nerv, who hammers it into the top corner with his side-fall volley hammer booster. Since the game ends in a draw, it comes down to a showdown between Leon and Fabi. If Fabi wins, Leon must admit that the Beasts are wilder than the Guys; if Leon wins, Fabi will become his friend again. Leon wins, but Fabi, who has felt that Leon only used him, has no interest in becoming friends with Leon again and runs off. But the Beasts and the Guys catch up with him, and Leon convinces Fabi that his friendship means a lot to him. In the end, both teams celebrate together.
