The story
On a winter night in Tehran, a nineteen-year-old woman arrives at an emergency room suffering from severe internal bleeding after having sex outside marriage, which is illegal in Iran. Her boyfriend accompanies her and pretends to be a relative. The young woman tells the doctor that she was raped, but after examining her, the doctor doubts her account and involves the authorities. The encounter places her and her boyfriend in a tense situation where their explanations and the doctor’s suspicions intersect.
