Full plot (contains spoilers)
Bob Garvin, CEO of DigiCom, appoints Tom Sanders' ex-girlfriend Meredith Johnson as his successor to 'break the glass ceiling.' After Meredith seduces Tom and he refuses intercourse, she files a sexual harassment complaint. To save a $100 million merger, DigiCom tries to force Tom into a job reassignment in Texas. Tom sues DigiCom, hiring attorney Catherine Alvarez. During mediation, Meredith blames Tom, but Tom eventually discovers he recorded their encounter on a colleague's voicemail. He plays the recording, but Meredith claims his protests were a desire to be dominated. Despite a quiet removal of Meredith, a mysterious 'Friend' warns Tom that she intends to frame him for production failures in Malaysia. Tom uses a virtual reality device to find evidence that Meredith and a Malaysian chief altered production specs to gain government favor, causing the very problems she blames on him. At a conference, Tom exposes her lies with news footage, and she is fired. After the merger, Garvin appoints Stephanie Kaplan to lead the Seattle operation. Tom discovers that his son, Spencer, was the one who leaked information to him anonymously via the 'Friend' persona, as Spencer was the research assistant for Professor Arthur Friend.
