A family's move to the suburbs takes a magical turn when a wish-granting wand transforms their new home into a fantasy kingdom.
The story
Approximately 10 years after the first film, Giselle and Robert Philip are living happily together with their two daughters in Manhattan. Dissatisfied with city life, Giselle plans to move the family to the suburban town of Monroeville. However, the move creates friction as the new house requires renovations, Robert must commute, and their teenage daughter Morgan feels like an outcast. When King Edward and Queen Nancy visit from Andalasia and present Giselle's infant daughter with a wish-granting wand, Giselle attempts to improve Morgan's social standing. This leads to a falling out between mother and daughter, setting the stage for a magical transformation.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Giselle and Robert Philip move to Monroeville, where they face suburban struggles. After King Edward and Queen Nancy gift their infant daughter a wish-granting wand, Giselle uses it to turn the town into the fantasy kingdom of Monrolasia to create a 'perfect fairy tale.' While Morgan is initially content, Giselle discovers she is becoming a haughty, wicked stepmother. She learns from a magic scroll that the transformation will become permanent at midnight. Malvina Monroe, the town's head, seeks to steal the wand. Giselle realizes she will lose her humanity without it and sends Morgan to Andalasia to help. Morgan learns that the magic is draining Andalasia; she uses memories of her family to restore Giselle's true self. During a final magic duel at a ball, Morgan's memories restore Giselle. Malvina takes Morgan hostage for the wand, but Giselle reveals Morgan is a 'true Andalasian' by blood. Morgan wishes to be home, breaking the spell. The world returns to normal, with only Giselle and Morgan remembering the events.
