An arrogant neurosurgeon must master the mystic arts after a career-ending accident leaves him unable to operate.
The story
After a devastating car accident leaves him unable to perform surgery, a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon named Dr. Stephen Strange seeks out a mysterious sanctuary known as Kamar-Taj. There, he encounters the Ancient One, a powerful sorcerer who offers to teach him the mystic arts to protect the Earth from extra-dimensional threats. As Strange begins his training, he must navigate the complexities of the mystical world while grappling with his own ego and the realization that the world is far more vast and dangerous than he ever imagined.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In Kathmandu, the sorcerer Kaecilius and his followers steal pages from the Ancient One's book and escape. In New York, Dr. Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon whose hands are ruined in a car crash, seeks out mystical healing and finds it at Kamar-Taj. He is taken in by Mordo and the Ancient One, who begins training him in the mystic arts to protect the Earth's Sanctums. While Strange learns to manipulate time and space, Kaecilius uses stolen pages to contact Dormammu, destroying the London Sanctum. After a skirmish in New York, Strange is injured and eventually reunites with Mordo. They discover the Ancient One has been mortally wounded by Kaecilius. In a final confrontation in Hong Kong, the Dark Dimension begins to consume Earth. Strange uses the Eye of Agamotto to create a time loop, trapping Dormammu and Kaecilius until they retreat. Mordo, disillusioned by the Ancient One's methods, leaves the order. Strange remains at the New York Sanctum to continue his studies with Wong.
