A series of puppet-based shorts parodies children's programming by juxtaposing colorful environments with disturbing psychological horror.

The story

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is a British adult puppet comedy horror web series featuring three main characters: a yellow childlike humanoid, an anthropomorphic green mallard duck, and a red humanoid. Each episode begins like a typical children's programme where the characters meet other puppets and participate in musical numbers about everyday life. However, the messages quickly become nonsensical and self-contradicting as the 'teacher' characters reveal sinister motives. The stories eventually transition into psychological horror and extreme graphic violence, leaving the traumatized characters to deal with the consequences of their bizarre experiences.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The series follows three main characters—Yellow Guy, Duck, and Red Guy—who inhabit a colorful, childlike world. In each episode, they encounter various anthropomorphic characters who lead them through musical numbers intended to teach basic life concepts. These segments quickly devolve into surreal and disturbing scenarios where the 'teachers' exhibit sinister motives, leading to climaxes of psychological horror, dark comedy, and extreme graphic violence. As the series progresses, the characters begin to question the nature of their reality and the bizarre messages they are being fed. The production style is diverse, utilizing puppetry, live action, stop motion, traditional animation, flash animation, claymation, and computer animation. The series concludes with the characters returning to their original situations with altered outlooks after experiencing these traumatic events.
