Dopo mezzanotte (2004)

Martino, a caretaker at the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, is secretly in love with Amanda, a fast-food worker at the place he often visits. Driven to the end of her tether by the restaurant’s owner, Amanda reacts violently one evening and injures him by pouring boiling oil on his legs. Terrified, she flees and finds shelter in the Mole Antonelliana itself, where Martino offers her protection in the apartment he has made inside a disused storeroom at the museum he looks after. Meanwhile, Angelo, a car thief and Amanda’s boyfriend, cheats on her with Barbara, Amanda’s roommate. Within a few days, he sorts things out by threatening the fast-food owner so that Amanda can leave her hiding place and no longer have anything to fear. In the meantime, however, after a long silence, Martino has confessed his love to Amanda, showing her a special film he has edited from footage shot with his vintage camera. Amanda, who has long felt neglected by her adventurous boyfriend, falls into the arms of the gentle, taciturn Martino. Back home, torn between resuming her relationship with Angelo and starting a new one with Martino, Amanda decides she does not want to give up either of them, thus embarking on a three-way relationship. The solution is poorly received not only by the two boyfriends, but also by her best friend Barbara, who is in love with Angelo. Just when the strange situation seems finally to be heading toward a happy resolution for everyone, the unthinkable happens: Angelo is accidentally killed by a night watchman. Barbara is the one hit hardest, as she had begun making plans with him, while Amanda, having overcome her grief, is ready to reserve her love for Martino alone.
