Full plot (contains spoilers)
The film is set in 1695 and tells the story of a young girl named Johanne Nilsdatter, who is accused of witchcraft. The trial ends with her execution in the bottomless pool Djupkista in Dunderlandsdalen. This was the last witch trial in Norway. In the years that follow, the valley is struck by a series of tragedies. The locals believe a curse hangs over the place. Three centuries later, theatre director Laura arrives in Dunderlandsdalen. At an abandoned scout camp, she and five actors are to stage “Anne Pedersdotter,” a play about the witch trials. The film is inspired by real events from Dunderlandsdalen. The main filming locations are the farmyard at Gullbekkheia and the pool Djupkista.
