An exiled Balkan prince and his socially celebrated wife settle into Vienna’s nightlife while searching for a successor to his throne.
The story
For political reasons, the eccentric Prince Tinnefka is forced to leave his small Balkan homeland of Mazegollnien and settle in Vienna with his much younger wife. She is already known in the Austrian capital: before marrying the deposed ruler, she had made a name for herself in high society as “Radieschen,” a celebrated dancer and figure of the nightlife. As Tinnefka searches for a possible successor to his throne, his wife renews old acquaintances and returns to Vienna’s nightlife, where she meets the handsome Count Casimir Conjak.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The eccentric, scruffy Prince Tinnefka has to leave his small Balkan homeland, Mazegollnien, for political reasons and settles in Vienna with his considerably younger and attractive wife. She is well known there: before marrying the ousted Balkan ruler, the young woman had made her mark in the Austrian capital’s high society under the pseudonym “Radieschen” and was a celebrated dancer and sought-after figure in its nightlife. While the prince looks for a possible successor to his throne, “Her Serene Highness Radieschen” renews her old contacts and promptly dives back into Vienna’s nightlife. There she also meets the handsome Count Casimir Conjak. The prince and princess soon enjoy life in fun-loving Vienna so much that they no longer feel any desire to return to Mazegollnien. And, finally, a suitable candidate is found for the currently vacant throne.
