Full plot (contains spoilers)
Before Christmas, Karel returns to his native village. He wants to sell the farm and move away with his younger brother, Nosek. Because Karel is rich and handsome, he becomes popular with most of the village girls, who long to marry him. But Karel does not want to get married, so he makes up seemingly impossible tasks for the girls vying for his hand, promising to marry whichever one completes them. Only Květa manages to do so, and only with the help of her stepsister, Maruška, whom her stepmother forces to help Květa with the tasks. Maruška turns to the Twelve Months, who help her complete Karel’s tasks for Květa. In the end, Karel falls in love with Maruška and discovers who really completed the tasks.
