The story
Kate Garrett is a horse trainer struggling to maintain her farm in southern Pennsylvania following the death of her wife. Her quiet life is disrupted when her daughter, Claire, a troubled drug addict, returns to the farm in an alarming state. When a violent drug dealer named Jackie Lawson appears to demand payment from Claire, Kate finds herself forced into a desperate situation to protect her daughter. The film explores the lengths a mother will go to shield her child from the consequences of her actions as the boundaries between protection and crime begin to blur.

Kate Garrett, a horse trainer in southern Pennsylvania, is struggling to run her farm after the death of her wife. When her daughter Claire, a drug addict, returns home, she is confronted by a violent dealer, Jackie Lawson. After a physical altercation, Claire and her boyfriend Ryan flee. Later, Claire returns with a bloodied shirt, claiming she killed Ryan. To protect her, Kate helps dispose of his body in a lake. However, Jackie reappears to extort Kate regarding the body, which is revealed to be a local addict, Greg Kaminski. Jackie drugs Kate, who then devises a plan to burn down her barn for insurance money, framing Jackie for the fire. Kate successfully frames Jackie for the death of Greg, and Jackie is arrested. The film ends with Kate and Claire staring at each other through a door at night, their future uncertain.
