Ehepaar sucht gleichgesinntes (1969)

The film is about partner swapping, which under certain circumstances can also be regarded as procuring and punished. Before the story begins, experts such as celebrity lawyer Rolf Bossi, as well as several passersby, some of them prominent, share their views on the subject. The still-young Marianne is already in the process of divorcing her husband, whom she finds boring and unloving, and who also seems sexually dormant in every respect. Through her friend Sylvia, she makes contact with a partner-swapping group attended by “ordinary” men and women of her age and a similar social background. Marianne, initially a little unsure but certainly curious, meets the married couple Franz and Judith Hellmann there, who enjoy sexually varied games. Before long, Marianne is swept up in the open, erotic atmosphere. At last, she can free herself from taboos she had previously established and from her own inhibitions, and openly give herself over to her hidden desires and pleasures. One day, the young adults seem to have gone too far in their uninhibitedness, not even stopping at a swimming pool, when suddenly the police arrive at the door and arrest the swingers for indecent and immoral behavior. A court case follows, in which those involved must explain themselves, and the phenomena of group sex and partner swapping are discussed in detail.
