A devoted chef whose restaurant is struggling must adapt when he unexpectedly meets his ten-year-old son.
The story
Chef Thomas is devoted above all to his kitchen, but the restaurant where he works is struggling. His routine is upended when Kate, a friend of the late mother of Nick, arrives with the ten-year-old boy. Thomas has never been in contact with Nick and did not even know he was his father. The two must now reckon with each other: Thomas does not know how to handle a child, while Nick rejects his gourmet cooking in favor of hamburgers. With restaurant inspectors expected, Thomas is left trying to manage the upheaval at home as well as pressure at work.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Nothing is more important to chef Thomas than his kitchen. Even so, the restaurant where he works is not doing as well as he would like. To make matters worse, Kate, a friend of the late mother of Nick, a ten-year-old boy whose father Thomas is, turns up. The two of them have never been in contact before. Thomas did not even know he was a father. Completely thrown off balance, Thomas has no idea how to deal with young Nick, who, on top of that, turns his nose up at Thomas’s gourmet cooking and would rather stuff himself with big hamburgers. Meanwhile, restaurant inspectors are expected, and Thomas is at his wits’ end. Nevertheless, in the end he earns his kitchen its first star, which the inspectors officially award him to applause.
