mini|The postcard shows the facilities of today’s LWL institutions in Lippstadt-Eickelborn and Benninghausen. At the Eickelborn psychiatric hospital (today: the LWL Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Lippstadt), 26-year-old Jürgen Bartsch lays bare his innermost thoughts in retrospect during a (fictional) therapy session, in a partly bizarre monologue. Jürgen Bartsch is a rather introverted boy who grows up in a household where he receives little love or affection from his adoptive parents. He also has almost no friends. In his free time, he drives around in his small van and persuades boys to come with him to his cave. There, he ties them up and kills them. Afterwards, he sexually abuses their corpses. When he was just twelve, he himself experienced abuse and sexual assaults by a priest at a Catholic boarding school for boys, and discovered his sexual attraction to boys. Although his reason tells him otherwise, Jürgen nevertheless sees no alternative. Nor does anyone offer him help. So he gives in to his urges and kills more prepubescent boys. When his last victim happens to escape from his cave, Jürgen’s series of crimes is uncovered. He was 15 when he committed his first murder. He is caught at 19.
