Eine bessere Welt (2025)

Dr. Elena Stanat is a scientist who has just moved with her family from the city to a detached house in the countryside. After being invited onto a talk show, where she discussed facts about climate change and possible solutions, Elena and her family become targets of a wave of hatred and harassment online and in the tabloid media. She meets climate activist Lara, who was supposed to appear on the talk show but was unable to because of a broken leg. Through Lara, Elena gets in touch with HateAid, which is able to provide her with important support in several areas over the following period. Nevertheless, the threats, stalking, and violence continue to place a heavy burden on Elena, her family, friends, and colleagues. Despite HateAid’s intensive support, there are deep-seated social and political failings that shield the perpetrators from prosecution and not only deny victims help but often blame them and put obstacles in their way. After the mob partially sets fire to the property and ransacks the house, peace returns to the family’s life.
