Full plot (contains spoilers)

Kitty Holm, a secretary at the Hoppe & Co. car dealership, regularly goes camping by a lake with her friends Hilde and Franzi on weekends. On Monday, everyday life awaits the young women again, and they have to go to work. They all hope for good fortune and have dreams and ideas about what they want their futures to look like. Kitty, for her part, longs to be a “grand lady” one day. One day, while working alone at the dealership during the lunch break, Kitty is visited by Ria Thurner, the daughter of a wealthy cotton farmer from Australia, who has come to buy a car. She impulsively buys a Mercedes convertible on display there and pays the 40,000 RM purchase price with a cheque from her father. Ria asks Kitty to deliver the car to Sophienbad, since she still has obligations to attend to in Berlin. Before Kitty can set off, Ria invites her to a fashion show and gives her an elegant dress there. While delivering the luxurious car, Kitty happens to meet Baron Heinz von Wolfenstein in Sophienbad and introduces herself to him as Countess Holm. She enjoys playing the “grand lady” and checks into a luxury hotel as a countess. After dinner with Heinz’s parents, Kitty realizes that her deception may soon be exposed. Meanwhile, Ria Thurner has met and fallen in love with Heinz’s brother. Baron Wolf von Wolfenstein asks Ria’s father, Mr. Thurner, for her hand in marriage. He gives the couple his blessing. After Kitty flees in a panic from the evening invitation at the home of Baron and Baroness Wolfenstein, afraid of being exposed as an impostor, she and Heinz meet again at an evening event with dancing at her hotel. During the evening, she spots her customer, Ria Thurner, and abruptly leaves Heinz standing there. After quickly packing, Kitty leaves the hotel. Ria and Wolf von Wolfenstein, along with her father, explain to Heinz that Kitty actually works at a car dealership and was only tasked with delivering Ria’s convertible. Mr. Thurner assures Heinz that he will put things right with Kitty. Mr. Thurner arranges with the branch manager for Kitty to lose her job at the dealership. At the same time, a man she does not know comes to collect her there and asks her to come to a hotel to meet someone. Ria Thurner is already waiting for Kitty there and invites her to the engagement party for Baron von Wolfenstein. Kitty initially thinks that Heinz von Wolfenstein is the fiancé. But at the party that evening, she is surprised to discover that Brother Wolf is the groom. Heinz von Wolfenstein is waiting for her, and the two fall into each other’s arms, overjoyed. Nothing now stands in the way of Kitty and Heinz getting married.
